We are currently developing a series of training workshops that we aim to take out around the borough. These are designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills so that can you tackle the issues that are relevant to you.

We want to work with TRAs, charities and community groups. If you want to find out more, or want us to deliver a workshop, please get in touch! engage@communitysouthwark.org

Demystifying the Planning Process

On 28th October 2017 we had a successful first training workshop to demystify the planning process, put on by Ian Redding (Community Southwark), Esther Drabkin-Reiter (Southwark Law Centre), and Eileen Conn (Peckham Vision). It has given a great start to what we hope will be a continuing series for residents active in neighbourhoods in Southwark.

Simply put the session hopes to provide attendees with the wherewithal to navigate the planning system and better understand how they can influence it.

For a flavour of the session you can access some of the presentations here and here.

Parliament Made Easy

Ever wanted to find out how Parliament works? Or how about the best way to influence your MP? Or perhaps how laws are made? If so, then Parliament Made Easy is for you!

The workshop is a great opportunity to find out more about the structures of democracy that govern this country.

This two hour session will provide an introduction in how Parliament works, what the role of the government is and how it is held to account, and the ways in which YOU can get involved in the democratic process.

We’ll even dabble at a local level and explore how Southwark Council operates if you fancy it.
